Jeff Rutledge created "Sun Face" for the entrance wall of the Good Samaritan Health Clinic in Dayton, Ohio.
I was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1952, as were my three younger sisters. I was asked to do an interior wall sculpture for the facility but when I saw the facade of the entrance I thought i could do a work there. I created the "Sun Face" buy cutting the stainless steel with my plasma cutter and hammering the face features into the surface . This technique is called Repossey. I wanted the clients who enter the building to be uplifted by the smiling image and feel the warmth of the sun. I also am interested in the potential use of Solar Energy in reducing our dependence on foreign oil sources.
I enjoy working in Stainless steel because it will out last my lifetime.
