Personal News: Hanging up my Shoes
One week from today I am hanging up my shoes. I'm leaving Medicine to devote 100% of my energy to Art. I had intended to keep working as a Family Practice doctor until the end of the year, but once my mind was made up, my heart followed along.
Above is a picture of the two pair of shoes that I have worn every day for the last 28-years. These are my "doctor shoes." They are made out of true Cordovan leather which is amazingly durable. Every few years I would get them resoled.
The photograph of my shoes was inspired by a painting by Van Gogh (click on the image to see a larger view). It is called "Shoes" (1888) and is now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Congratulations!
