New Journal: HERD

Herdblog
When we registered for the HCD07 conference they gave us a bag of "stuff". Most of it I threw out but something caught my eye, a journal I had never seen before: HERD.

This was the first issue of this Journal which is a joint venture between the Center for Health Design and Vendome. "HERD" is easier to say than the full journal name:
Health Environments Research and Design Journal
.

This is an academic journal, and many who are involved in the use of Art in HealthCare may find it too dry; there are no pictures and no ads. However, I am excited about reading it and plan to subscribe ($229/year).

When I did my survey yesterday about how much solid research supports design decisions in healthcare, it is clear that there is a lot to learn. This journal promises to be the key place to learn about evidence you can trust to allow design to truly be Evidence-based.

Their website is: www.herdjournal.com
On the website they say this about the journal:

HERD will feature research papers, opinion papers, theory papers, metanalysis/metasynthesis, book reviews, case studies, independent post occupancy evaluations, letters to the editors, and responses to letters/papers. This and future issues will feature a wide range of data, ideas, and expertise. We anticipate HERD will generate and further the discussion of evidence and ideas related to health environments.
